S.D.10x (Beta-Testers Needed)
Hey, I'm working on a game, and I need some testers to help me out.
I've only released one other ZZT game ("Hood Of ZZT"), so let's just say I'm not an expert...
Anyway, I'm uploading the current demo, it only has a few boards, but it is far from finished. So in advance to anyone who downloads my demo and helps me out. The game is called "S.D.10x" and I would appreciate it if none of you fuckers come in here just to bash my work. Thanks!

Hey nps, try being nice to the people who are actually using ZZT.
More of a teaser than a demo. There wasn't any real gameplay - it was just you telling a story. Once the trip begins, make sure you give the player something to do other than just wander around. I would recommend playing Edible Vomit for inspiration - this is one of the most highly-regarded drug-trip games.
As for graphics, you might want to use more STK colors. Even so, the title screen came out pretty nice, given that you didn't use any STK. You might want to spice things up a bit graphically, though. Wilder colors, and perhaps some changing colors - for example, if you add an object with the following code, you can make the floors psychedelic:
And remember, you can always come here for programming help. I would recommend posting a beta version of the game - let people give you more feedback before you make the final release.

Code: Select all
#cycle 1
:loop
/i#change fake red fake
/i#change fake purple fake
/i#change fake blue fake
/i#change fake cyan fake
/i#change fake green fake
/i#change fake yellow fake

Yeah, biggest thing for you would be STK. If you feel like you know your way around the ZZT editor well enough, you might like to try KevEdit - makes things a bit faster and allows you more colour choices.
Take a look at how veteran ZZTers do the interiors of buildings. Edible Vomit will show you how to do that, too.
I hate the psychedelic effect Quantum mentions for anything more than just one tile, but maybe that's just me.
