World of Warcraft

If you want to act like He-Man, grab a sword and stand on the peak of one the mountains in Valua then stick your sword into the sky screaming "I HAVE THE POWER!!".Then get struck by lightning just like He-Man.

World of Warcraft

Post by 186 »

I don't know about the rest of you but this is the first MMORPG I've ever found myself looking foreard to or even contemplating buying. It looks like it will be a pretty awesome game both online and offline. So far they have included 6 races each with multiple classes. They also have multiple areas spanning the entire spectrum of the Warcraft III universe (with the exception of "Outland"). I also read that they are going to include hundreds of pre-programmed quests (I assume these are for people who might not be playing online right away.). All in all this looks like a well thought-out game that any fan of the warcraft series should take a look at. Release date is currently slated for june of 2004...

DOOM III is the only thing to look forward too. well... and half-life 2.

I only really like the first warcraft. All of blizzards RTSs play like boardgames more than war games. Not that Westwood was done well with C&C, but Emperor:Dune was awesome. As was dune 2, but not dune 2000. Ohh well.

Anyone play Jeff Wayne's War of the Worlds? That's a fun, original game. No multiplayer support though... so damn...

I thought that Command and COnquer and Command and Conqer: Red Alert were pretty good! Tiberium Sun and RedAlert II were a bit of a let-down. And Generals was complete shit....

I don't think Blizzard's RTS games play like board game, more like RPG's especially WCIII. There is alot of strategy, but most of it is RPGish strategy.

I just realised that it might be a good idea to include the link to the World of Warcraft homepage:

http://www.blizzard.com/wow/

also if you are interested, take a look at Blizzard's other project, StarCraft: Ghost

Well, I've only played Warcraft 3 in passing, it was all right but sort of tedious. Warcraft two played like a board game and so did starcraft to some extent. The zerg helped prevent that.

Yeah, the first C&C was fun, as was red alert. But they were so obviously inspired by Dune 2. tiberium was an okay idea, but harvesting ore? nah...

MMORPGs are to gaming as reality shows are to TV: pointless trash that's slowly choking the life and fun out of gaming as we know it. All MMORPGs are horrible wastes of time and need to be killed and buried in a bog deep in the wilderness.

Medievia was the only one I ever liked and then I realized what a repetitive log of shit it was when you actually reached the higher levels. What I wouldn't give to get my time back.

EDIT: I've got an even better idea for a game. It's called "Go Outside MMORPG". The servers are never down, and you can actually get laid by someone who isn't secretly a 46 year old guy.

That's not the only thing, but you know they're going to make you pay for it monthly. Probably like.. ten bucks a month? But once your basically bored to death of the game. Your going to wonder why you spent all that money in the first place. If you can play it on a LAN, then I guess that's kind of cool. Invite all your friends over for a big LAN party. But I doubt it. If it was *free*, then it wouldn't be as bad in the long wrong.

Yes, they are going to have it so you can host a LAN game, the only reason I am going to buy this game is because ti has off line quests and LAN capabilities, there's no way in hell I would pay a monthly fee to play a game.

Stiltzkin you are so cute! You are so full of angst you sassy dapper young man ^_^
