I've been studying a lot of history and one thing I've noticed was that the definition of century has changed in the historical sense. The European 19th century is considered to have begun after the French Revolution (1789).
A hundred years from now will they be saying the 21th century began with the personal computer industry (1977), with the Internet age (90's)?

I'm pretty interested in this idea, thinking, what exactly defines the 'when' of at what point we as a Civilization are really in the 21st Century and what's when we are merely there in the numbers...

Also the beginning post emphasizes a western viewpoint. People from other parts of the world divide history differently.
