along those lines you could have something that detects the use of a torch and maybe have the passages #change into walls so they'd vanish and set some idles to make them change back into passages when the torch time runs out. Use passages and torches to have some of it remain visible. Still the same problems remain for making a path, this would just be an effect.

I sort of want to use this in something too. Unfortunately my RPG uses an engine that traps the player so it wouldn't work very well.
