Porting Games From ZZT to SZZT?

Post by 713 »

When I was using the Super ZZT editor, I discovered that both ZZT and Super ZZT use a .brd file to extract boards. Would that make it possible for Super ZZT to load a ZZT board, or ZZT to open a Super ZZT board?

why didn't you just try it instead of asking us
Zack: Preppy, charming and totally gorgeous! Zach is a schemer who would rather stay up all night figuring how to get out of an exam than studying for it!

Slater: The All-American athlete with dimples to die for! Captain of Bayside's football team, Slater is a chauvinist who -- believe it or not -- has an emotional side. What a combo!

Screech: Class clown and electronic genius! When Screech turns on the power, the fun never stops!

Because he doesn't know how to access the editor in SuperZZT.

Nobody knows.

This reminds me of this game in the old AOL archives that was really an ad against Super ZZT

Everything was in all-caps and it was all "CAMPAIGN AGAINST SZZT! IT SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

One of the ways to "STOP THE SPREAD OF SZZT" was "DON'T TELL PEOPLE HOW TO GET TO THE EDITOR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

Isn't there stuff in ZZT that's not in SZZT (like teleporters?) and stuff in SZZT that's not in ZZT (like conveyors). If so then you're not going to be able to guarentee a port from one to the other.

Well, heck, the boards aren't the same size to begin with.

I asked you guys becuase my PC is on crack, and it cant load any DOS programs. I haven't had time to get my 486 working again. I got a small ZZT board to port, but the colors were messed up. I got runtime errors when I tried to open a board with objects on it or water. I'm going to try again once I get my 486 working again.
