Torrent Clients

Post by FSFunky »

BitTorrent seems to have become the preferred method of spreading pretty much any file over 100 MB these days (Except for the idiots at FilePlanet). After my reinstall I've been playing around with different BitTorrent clients, and I wondered, which one would you recommend? Here are the clients I've tried, and my comments.

Azureus - Has a lot of configurable options and seems to give me the best download/upload speeds. However, by being written in Java it eats up my memory, and prevents me from playing games while downloading Torrents, which is pretty much 24/7.

G3Torrent - Lightweight client, which gives me good download/upload speeds. It is extremely picky about .torrent files though, it bitches about "invalid data" with files other clients read just fine.

BitComet - Extremely lightweight client, but gives me abysmal upload speeds. Which is rather important when I'm using private trackers where you've got to keep up a certain d/u ratio.

So, please tell me what client you use and why. Also, it is rather important for me personally that it not consume too much resources, since I want to play games (Which are system-intensive), but I guess you could just make a general comments about it (like I did) and this thread can be some kind of reference.

I use BitTorrent++. I don't have any reason as to why. I've always used it to download torrents and have never looked into using another client.

I use ABC because it doesn't use as much memory as Azureus. I want to play games while downloading. =(

EDIT: It uses aprox. 15mb of RAM instead of Azureus' 50,000mb. Azureus uses more RAM because it's JAVA-based btw.

I usually use <a href="http://bittornado.com/">BitTornado.</a> It's worked just fine for me so far.
