Weekend of ZZT

In your adventures through the Town of ZZT, you have been captured by the evil Dungeon Guards. Not recognizing you as the great escape artist you are, the guards have thrown you in the Dungeons of ZZT.

Monday. The contest was supposed to span 72 hours, but at first only 48 were allocated.

hi. i'm knightt. you may remember me from such movies as "i know what you did two summers ago" and "godzilla gets hit by a gas truck".

anyway, i'm one of the judges. make a good game and i'll like it. i'll go by teh established rules because, algebraically, "rulez = rulez". but just don't suck and you win.

Then why do the rules allow making music and sound outside of the 72 hours?

Here's the answer. Madtom is right, again.
- Using pre-programmed ZZT material is prohibited. You may NOT use anything from other ZZT games. All work must be original and have been created within the given time frame of 72 hours, with the exception of sound and music.

YES! You can use pre-made music. The Sound category (and it's SOUND, not MUSIC) is simply so that you don't have happy-go-lucky rainbow tunes in a dark dungeon. It's all about selection, I could give a crap where it came from or how old it is.

dsone, looks like you could finally get the zzt horror genre going.

and yes, you can ABSOLUTELY use premade music/sounds. if we're judging music/sounds that highly, and put that together with the fact that not too many zzters know how to make ZZT PC speaker stuff (a good deal of ZZT "music" sounds awful anyway), it makes perfect sense to me. ... also, it says in the rules that people can, so yay.
