The best of the best.

FlatLuigi, in an e-mail to MadTom, wrote:H'lo. You most likely will know me in the future as Flatluigi, but my game isn't finished yet. My idea is that you or whoever over there is best at organizing the Z2 games take the 3-4 best games of some of the best ZZT programmers out there and put each programmer's best games and put them in a file together. I think that will help many of the very bored ZZT Players out there. TIA.
I think this is a good idea, and seeing as we've had a lot of favourite game/programmer/method of performing home abortions threads recently, I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions, or was willing to head up the project.

The only difficulties I can foresee in such a compilation would be obtaining permission for the re-release of games by ZZT programmers who've long since disappeared, and disagreements over the inclusion of contentious games such as Stupid RPG.

I think Knightt is just about the only person who's made anything worthwhile who'd whine. Besides, you said 'best'.

Most of the best people I can think of can be contacted in some way shape or form, and they'd probably either say "sure go ahead" or "i really don't care, whatever"

Anyway uh if anyone wants to use anything by me go right ahead

I like the idea. Maybe i can help a bit too (as long as you tell me WHAT to do :D ).

Some good games to have in it:
Code Red 1-3
Burger Joint
Burglar!
Run-On

Well... They´re my favourite ones, at least.

What I would like to see even more is if all of the small creations of prestigious programmers (unfinished games, mini games, engines, etc.) from magazines and such were compiled into one game with a menu, since it's likely few people play them anymore.

Or possibly the games could be put together by date, like, 'Best of Mid-1997', or something. Which reminds me that I've always thought it would be good to squeeze in the year a game was released into the database, if there's room.

This is all in addition to Italian Stallion's idea, which would be great if it included an introduction that discusses the author and each game in the compilation, in a historical tone.

Now that I've made a lot of suggestions without indicating I would contribute to the cause, I take my leave.

november eve was SHIT. So SHIT that I have to write it in caps, in the largest font available, and in bold, italics and underlining. But not in red, that's against the rules.

So was Welcome to Hell.

All of Tseng's other stuff totally rocked the house, though.

That would be really cool if someone did that. Or if we started to collect all or most of the games made by well-known and recommended ZZTers in one ZIP file so that people don't have to download each one seperately, as I have experienced gets a little tiring. Would anyone mind if I uploaded some stuff along that nature?

You'd need to get permission from all of the ZZTers involved, which could be time-consuming. However, if nobody has any objections, I don't see why you couldn't head up the project, since you're interested. Or Smallhacker, for that matter.

Toss Stupid RPG in sneakily, without telling anyone, and see how long it takes before Knightt finds out.
