ZZT succcessor

I would like to gather information about what the community would theoretically like to see in a successor to ZZT.

I've collected a few examples already:
  • Objects should be able to detect what they're blocked by
  • Replace built in enemies with one generic enemy
  • Allow :shot messages at point-blank range
  • Allow 16 colors in ZZT OOP commands
  • Replace #throwstar with #put <dir> star

I think a well done successor to ZZT couldn't be backwards compatible. You could import old ZZT worlds but not export to them. This would allow you to remove limits on things.

I would like to see all prefabs from previous ZZT games make an appearance. Would be nice if they were scripted using OOP (enhanced of course). That way their behavior will still be the same but can optionally be modified by the creator without having to learn anything new.

Isn't Megazeux technically ZZT's successor?

One could argue that, yeah. Though these days it seems to be evolving well into its own thing thanks to community effort since 2.51g

Yeah, I mean can you create something like red in ZZT?

there are two shades of red you can use in zzt, and you can create the illusion of more through clever use of normal, breakable, and water blocks.

Super ZZT is technically ZZT's successor... So look what Kev Vance is up to.
