What is this madness

This is like something Flimsy would do. (Link to .zzt file further in the thread :keen:)

Edit: Since when does the name for the castlezzt mirrored Garfield strips guy that starts with an F wordfilter to Alexis?

Hasn't he called himself Alexis Janson for awhile now? Kinda like how Dron likes to weird everybody out by calling himself Aeris.

That would be Gregory Janson, the guy who made STK and Megazeux. Unless you want to make the third major "Flim and ___ are the same person" claim since I've been here.

He's got some stuff from 2008, 2007 (http://begriffli.ch/files/), so I kind of doubt this is just a persona Flimsy threw together. I suppose it could be a fake persona, but it would be a lot of work. My gut feeling is he's not Flimsy.

He's obviously a competent programmer. He capitalizes object names and non-default labels, which is a bit unusual (is he somewhat new to ZZT?). At any rate, he knows your LJ and he knows ZZT, so we probably know him.

I didn't say that I seriously suspect this person of being Flim, just that this unholy contraption he put together is the sort of thing Flim would do. More than one person is allowed to be insane with ZZT. Also, you get to say Flim + sy without it being wordfiltered to Alexis and I don't, no fair.

If I had to guess, I'd say he's more from my furry friend circle than from the ZZT community. His LJ profile lists him as friends of two of my furry friends, which is undoubtedly how he found me. I'm guessing he just saw that post, read my whole speech about how ZZT is a fun hobby in a Rube Goldberg-esque "let's make twisted abominations that Tim Sweeney clearly never intended" sort of way, and decided to give it a try. That would tie in with your suspicions of his capitalization and such hinting at him being new to ZZT.

Oh, okay. Totally agree.

And the way I avoid the word filter is by doing something like

Code: Select all

So Drake (that guy from that thread) seriously expanded his crazy ZZT mad science, including things like a sine wave graphing untility, a 1-D cell automaton life simulator thing, and solvers for the Knight's Tour and the Tower of Hanoi, among others. He just uploaded it to Z2 and it's in the upload pile now. Everyone be nice, because this is some seriously impressive and crazy stuff and we need more good ZZT games anyway. (Even if this isn't a game and is more like an engine tech demo...thing. Still.) :keen:

I've been running the mandelbrot set plotter for a full day at top speed and it's still doing its little dance with no mandelbrot!
