Dosbox has a feature that turns it up to max emulation speed. By default it emulates a slower computer. To speed it up, do the f12 trick or just type the command [cycles max] at the dosbox prompt. To see how many cycles are being emulated, type [cycles] or window it and look at the info bar.
I can't get DosBox to fullscreen properly, it stretches everything on Vista, but if I work in a window I can do all my ZZT stuff in it.
