ZZT for Mac?

I dunno. I've done some research and came across nothing. I have this old-ass mac in my room, was an 8.3, but had a 9.0 install disc. Anyway, just a thought. I am working on my XP right now and I like ZZT, I just thought it'd be cool for it to be on mac. Spread the word on mayonnaise nationwide.

ZZT is a DOS program, and there were never a Macintosh version available. If you've got a somewhat recent version of OS X, you can run ZZT through DOSBox, a DOS emulator. But that's about it.

It might be possible to compile DOSBox for an old Mac, but I don't have any experience with Mac programming before OS X came about. 9.0 is pretty ancient, and I don't think it would be quite worth the trouble getting ZZT to run on it.

Welcome to z2, by the way!

probably a virtual pc for os9, right? or has it already been settled that zzt doesn't work on virtual pc?

Actually, Virtual PC might work, if you can find a copy for OS 9.

Here's another option I completely forgot about: Bochs is like Virtual PC, except it's freeware and open source. It takes some fiddling to get a virtual machine running, but I remember years ago I got Bochs to boot DOS and run ZZT. Version 2.1.1 looks like the last version for Mac OS 9.

The only problems I can think of are (1) speed and (2) poor support for DOS text modes, PC speaker, etc. I remember ZZT in Bochs looked kind of funny and was slow for some games, but it did run.
