when is a roguelike not a roguelike?

when it's monsterland...

seventh shade showed me this game the other day, it's really badass (by which i mean difficult and stylish and really violent): video, web address

it has more in common with contra than adom, it's not turn-based like most roguelikes and the weapons are really cool

yes, it reuses halloween harry and doom sound effects, but is that really a bad thing?

anyway, you should play it, it's very good

Yes, it sure looks awesome, not anything like that zzt "game" we all used to play. I'll have to get around playing it after I finish attacking trees with a chainsaw.

Also, who is this Snarfoogle?

i'd rather have a mod so you played as a smiley face, the @ thing annoys me no end in roguelikes

P is actually an improvement, in my opinion

using a lowercase p to depict crouching is a nice detail

it's very strange having sound effects like that for text graphics.
