boonob is just saying this because sometimes when i play a videogame i'll say "fuck i died" and i usually opt for games that are pretty tough. also to be annoying

nps is just in it for the thrills

i assume that by "summer carnival" you mean recca, right? yeah, that game's badass, i can get to the end of world 2 but NO FURTHER

other games that are really tough;

alien soldier
space harrier
thunderforce 4
battletoads
the firemen
contra 3 (would be easier if it weren't for those shitty overhead sections, which i hate)
blaster master
teenage mutant ninja turtles
pocky & rocky
metal slug (all of them, but i like 3 best)
clash at demonhead
r-type 3 (any r-type game really, but especially this one)

there are probably others. let's harness the power of this thread for good, and make it into a "really goddamn difficult games" thread

Revenge of the Shinobi (Genesis)
Doom I & II, Final Doom (PC, Nightmare skill while speed running)

These are all of the games that come to mind. I am of the belief that if a games is to difficult to beat on the normal (or equivelent) skill level, then either:
A) I really suck at the game (need experiance)
B) The game sucks
