This is exactly how a thread should work.
It seems unlikely that this deeply unsatisfactory situation will be resolved by a new attempt to answer the old question; instead, as has been suggested by some of the most thoughtful students, we should expect to find that some part of the conceptual landscape in which this problematic entity resides must be reconstructed before it will come into focus.

10001000 = 1+16 = 17 =
01100000 = 2 + 4 = 6 =
00000001 = 128 = 128 =

BUT WHAT DOES IT MEAN :(

First of all, I probably should have said it's not ASCII (but I am impressed with your work!).
Second, it does not appear in your post, ironically. In fact, counting only post text, it has not yet occurred on this page, including this post (compared to two occurrences on page 2 and 3 occurrences on page 1).
Third hint: Frank Drake in Arecibo, Puerto Rico.
And don't get your hopes up; it's not like it means much.

I just wanted to show off how e2 taught me how to read binary by basically saying it was a set of switches which added 1,2,4,etc.
Then somebody at school for some reason was talking about it and was like WELL HOW DO YOU GET LETTERS THEN
and that's when i thought the value could correspond to an ASCII code.

Are you saying that you got the answer (Have I solved it? ... [Y]es!), or that the answer itself is yes? Because the answer is not "yes," but if that's what you got, I'd like to know how!
Frank Drake was partially behind a fairly well-known message that was sent out at Arecibo in November 1974. The messages are similar.
And oof was right to notice that the digits can be divided up neatly...

Well also there is Drake's Equation, which to be honest I didn't know about until I looked it up last night. The equation has seven factors and seven divides nicely into 35, so that was my guess. Of course two of those are zero so that wouldn't be a very fun answer. Maybe five groups of seven and then it will follow some code of 1=A 2=B which would be uncharacteristically unscientific of Quantum Pee. I'll look at it later because I have to go to the library soon -- ironically I'm going there to study maths!

Ok, so my post wasn't obvious enough.
The phrasing of "Have I solved..." was meant to clearly show Quantum P (that I knew) the answer.
I doubt that you could get the answer by using Google, although I may be wrong.
7 lots of 5 isn't the best way to think of the digits. 5 lots of 7 would be better...
And I would reciprocate with some subtle message in code, but the only coded message I think is suitable(!), would give it away.
