also
and after this tour the band ceased wearing corpse paint; they stated that it was becoming a trend and losing its original significance and symbolism.
BACK RIGHT UP THERE! When did that become a trend???? I wore some to school the other day and thought I was being edgy and avant-garde!
this is a deep and meaningful quote

It's an ancient Scandinavian practice of grounding up the bodies of their enemies in war and eating them, or, when there is too much to eat, decorating their bodies with. It was outlawed in Norway two years ago.

i laughed

so guys what is your opinion on "neonism" by solefald

it is such a crazy and/or wacky album

i managed to snag it on ebay the other day for an agreeable price and i look forward to owning a physical record of it

anyway here is a list of all the BM albums i own because i know madtom wants to know

this is about 20% of my collection in total, i like lots of different kinds of music. also i'm not listing opeth or nile because they are death metal, there is a significant difference to the discerning ear

...and Oceans - A/M.G.O.D Allotrophic/Metamorphic: Genesis of Dimorphism
Aborym - With No Human Intervention
Absu - Barathrum: V.I.T.R.I.O.L. (includes funny bonus live tracks where the singer addresses the audience in his growly voice and says fuck for no reason other than the possible grim/necro value)
Absu - The Sun of Tiphareth
Bal-Sagoth - Starfire Burning Upon the Ice-Veiled Throne of Ultima Thule (the most ott BS album, but not the best really. still great, mind)
Bal-Sagoth - The Power Cosmic (this is the best one)
Bal-Sagoth - Atlantis Ascendant (this isn't half bad either)
Bathory - Blood Fire Death
Bathory - Hammerheart
Bathory - Nordland 1
Cradle of Filth - Midian (cof are mostly mediocre but i like this one)
Dimmu Borgir - Enthrone Darkness Triumphant
Dimmu Borgir - Puritanical Euphoric Misanthropia
Dimmu Borgir - Death Cult Armageddon
Dodheimsgard - 666 International
Emperor - In the Nightside Eclipse
Emperor - Anthems to the Welkin at Dusk
Emperor - IX Equilibrium
Finntroll - Visor Om Slutet (i don't really like finntroll but i dig this acoustic folk album by them; i just wish there was more of it)
Immortal - At the Heart of Winter
Marduk - La Grande Danse Macabre
Mayhem - Grand Declaration of War
Meads of Asphodel - Exhuming the Grave of Yeshua
Peccatum - Amor Fati (fuck the haters, i dig this)
Red Harvest - Sick Transit Gloria Mundi (worth it just for the ggfh cover)
Samael - Passage
Samael - Eternal
Satyricon - Nemesis Divina
Sigh - Imaginary Sonicscape (<Jazzy> crazy wapanese XD)
Thorns
Solefald - Neonism
Ulver - Themes from William Blake's "The Marriage of Heaven and Hell"
Ulver - Perdition City
Ulver - 1993-2003: 1st Decade in the Machines (this and the last one aren't black metal at all but odd electronic glitch ambience stuff; i like it anyway)
Zyklon - World Ov Worms

ok that's all
he looked upon the world and saw it was still depraved :fvkk:

Overall: Rotton egg for breakfast

I have a CD from an Australian metal band called Arkheth. I'm hoping it will become TRV KVLT in a few years because they've all but disbanded now and the CD really doesn't seem to have gone anywhere. It was weird, because I found it in Sanity, which is like the most mainstream music retailer in New South Wales. They stock barely any metal at all.

It's also apparently a really damn small world because I have the girlfriend of their live bassist on my LJ friends list

I've always liked Feast Merkerium the most. Their newer albums aren't quite as good, of course, but still have charm. Fury of Lansingridor isn't always consistantly good, but their album Springtime Bunnykilling is probably my favorite. Lately I've been listening to Zion Burning's latest album Ertrinken Sie Einen Juden. If you can deal with the subtle anti-semitism there is some real poetry in there.

In Nadirlike fashion, here's the BM albums I actually own, again with me only about 20% of total albums.

...and Oceans - Dynamic Gallery of Thoughts / I-O (Reissue)
Anorexia Nervosa - New Obscurantis Order [only symphonic black album in collection, outside of the ...and Oceans reissue]
Arcturus - Aspera Hiems Symphonia / Constellation / My Angel [Cleaned up wonderfully in the remaster]
Bethlehem - Sardonischer Untergang im Zeichen Irreligioser Darbietung (S.U.I.Z.I.D.) [EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE]
Borknagar - Empericism
Borknagar - Quintessence
Diabolical Masquerade - Death's Design
Dodheimsgard - 666 International
Emperor - Anthems to the Welkin at Dusk [best]
Emperor - In the Nightside Eclipse
Emperor - IX Equilibrium
Enslaved - Mardraum
Immortal - At the Heart of Winter
Immortal - Pure Holocaust
In the Woods... - HEart of the Ages [Epic]
In the Woods... - Return to the Isle of Men
Korova - Dead Like an Angel [Why here? It fits BM more than anything else, really.]
Mayhem - Grand Declaration of War
Sad Legend - Sad Legend [It's like the Korean Bergtatt! It's actually very good.]
Samael - Ceremony of Opposites / Rebellion
Samael - Passage
Samael - Exodus
Solefald - Neonism [Great, though Cornelius obviously learned English through Pitchfork Media, Usenet, or some other ungodly pretentious outlet. Lazare's lyrics are more tolerable. The Linear Scaffold was nowhere near as pretentious as this.]
Ulver - Bergtatt: Et Eeventyr i 5 Capiteler
Ulver - Nattens Madrigal: Aatte Hymne til Ulven i Manden [Surprise! Ulver releases after an acoustic folk album... the harshest BM album ever. Surprise! It's actually a lot better than one'd think.]
Ulver - Vargnatt [Vinyl only.]

Some, like Samael's Eternal, I left out because they'd dropped most of the black metal trappings, blah blah etc.
