Must-have SNES games

If you want to act like He-Man, grab a sword and stand on the peak of one the mountains in Valua then stick your sword into the sky screaming "I HAVE THE POWER!!".Then get struck by lightning just like He-Man.

Must-have SNES games

Post by FSFunky »

Now, I've recently reinstalled my computer and in the process lost everything I ever had. Now, I used to download the GoodROMS set for any system I was going to emulate, but there would be hundreds of games I would never play in there.

So, I ask you, now that I'm restarting my SNES ROM collection, what ROMS are essential to have?

Or just name some cool SNES games I should play, that could work too.

These are the games I am getting no matter what:

Super Mario World
Earthbound
Legend Of Zelda
Super Mario Allstars
Yoshi's Island
Chrono Trigger

There are a lot of other topics like this. You could probably just click on a random topic in this forum, and it will most likely be another one of these.

The Super Star Wars series is superb, and Zombies Ate My Neighbors is quite fun.

Final Fight 3 is possibly the best in the series, and I'll also recommend Street Fighter 2 Turbo (and possibly even Super Street Fighter 2). Also surprisingly good (I liked it, at least) is Batman Returns (I think), it's like Final Fight but with Batman instead. Also try Battletoads in Battlemaniacs and Battletoads Double Dragon.

I cannot recommend Final Fantasy 6 enough, and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 3: Turtles in Time is a game that should be in every SNES collection ever. Also I remember this Tiny Toons game being not half-bad.

If you're into the Mortal Kombat series, get 2 and 3, the first one sucks really badly IMO.

As far as puzzle games go, Tetris Attack and Tetris and Dr Mario are good. Also Kirby's Avalanche.

As you can probably see, I'm a big fan of side-scrolling beat-em-ups, and I tried not to mention anything that others have said, so eh.

EDIT: Also try Rockman and Forte

streets of rage > final fight

also speaking of batman i went to an art gallery today and there was this one painting that was like the twin towers exploding in the background and batman and spiderman all like "nnnnnoooooooooo" in the foreground

it looked like it was drawn in crayon by a seven year old boy

it was called "superpowerless"

Oh, and there're also some Mega Man games, like Mega Man 7, and Mega Man and Bass, and some dumb Mega Man soccer game that I never played.

I've found they work better if you switch the L and R buttons around.

Most any SNES RPG is good. I like Terrenigma (sp) and Treasure of The Rudras, Robotrek (It reminds me of ZZT somehow), FF5 (It's on the GAYstation too, but THEY RUINED IT!), Dragon Quest V|VI, DQ 1&2 Remake. Also, I like Rocky Rodent (A FURRY GAME with FREAKY HAIR. Nadir, anyone? =P) and Bubsy 1&2. Ahhh... I remember Bubsy. I played it one Sega Genesis. Dang, Nintendo has some cool stuff. I wish more would come to the USA...

gained this thread "best thread ever" status
Zack: Preppy, charming and totally gorgeous! Zach is a schemer who would rather stay up all night figuring how to get out of an exam than studying for it!

Slater: The All-American athlete with dimples to die for! Captain of Bayside's football team, Slater is a chauvinist who -- believe it or not -- has an emotional side. What a combo!

Screech: Class clown and electronic genius! When Screech turns on the power, the fun never stops!

I'm gonna go say Front Mission: Gun Hazard, along with Live A Live and Cannon Fodder.

EDIT: I probably should have mentioned Ys IV: Mask of the Sun.
