Random email summoning! I must have subscribed to this topic at one point and will now go read some others, maybe!
I'm... um...
I don't think
this can be done in ZZT.
...therefore, I must attempt it!

That is awesome. That's what I was going for with my ZZT and Watch nanogame, but I failed and switched to moving objects that didn't work very well.
Best of luck! I'll try to keep replying.

That's pretty neat! Clever keeping track of the cat's position by using the player's position.

thanks for the comments. I was originally going to make it a more serious game, with a human main character in some sort of spy setting, but as I was trying to draw the guy with just invisibles, he started to look like a cat and I just went with it. Also with a cat I could get away with using one solid colour. It's a bit of a challenge making the screens seem immersive but still having blank areas for the cat to wander in. I also realise that the cat huge, probably about two and a half feet tall.

At some point the cat should sit on an electric keyboard and say something about Quantum Physics. Just for the vague community reference.

My beat 'em up post is actually relevant now. I've got a few ideas for the story and events and got over the initial hump of creating the fighting engine, so I hope this goes somewhere.
