How do I get text to appear next to a world name?

Post by Furry Jesus Freak »

Greetings. Can anyone answer the above question? If you need an example, load up ZZT and go to the World Selection menu. Now, look at any of the original 6 worlds, or BESTZZT1 or BESTZZT2.zzt. See how the full name is off to the side? I would like to do that with my game, Pilgrim's Progress. Also, while using ZZTAE, I noticed that several games, like Mission:Enigma and Chrono Wars 2 had their names written out in it's World Selection menu. Is that related to the said question? And on the subject of ZZTAE, where can I get documentation on it (H doesn't work)?
Thank you for your time.

I hate to be the one to tell you this, but even with God, having an extended world name is not possible.

Sorry, I couldn't help myself. Someone give the guy a proper answer.

ZZT is hard-coded to have little descriptions next to THOSE games only.

Therefore, only those games get them. Sorry.

Thanks for trying to help. About question 2, I found a utility to do that(ZZTName). And I have looked into ZZT.dat previously, (using Notepad ^^;) but found nothing referring to said games. Rather, I think it's in the game's data, due to the fact that I saw an ad in Super ZZT for 'The Best of ZZT' (Meaning it came out later). However, this is only a hypothesis.
And can anyone tell me what a "monitor" is? Thank you. Oh, and Superbowl shuffle, watch what you say.... He's watching.... >:)

The monitor is the name for the player object on the title screen. When the world loads and displayes the title, it's invisible. Because the player is the one that reacts to keystrokes, the monitor is reacts to P for play and those other keyboard commands used only when not actually playing a world.

Thank you for trying to help. I have just one more question: What practical use does this "monitor" serve?

You could try HEX editing.

Probably won't work though.

Woops.
