IT'S ACTUALLY ABOUT ZZT THIS TIME I SWEAR
It's possible to make, using only solids, empties, sliders and teleporters, a pathway that you can only get through if you have a boulder AND which you can get the boulder out the other side of as well AND that resets itself so it can be used again.
CAN YOU MAKE IT?
CAN YOU MAKE IT?
It seems unlikely that this deeply unsatisfactory situation will be resolved by a new attempt to answer the old question; instead, as has been suggested by some of the most thoughtful students, we should expect to find that some part of the conceptual landscape in which this problematic entity resides must be reconstructed before it will come into focus.

I made it, or at least I made something which took ages to make. The spec of my pathway is:
The pathway only uses solid, empty, nssliders and transporters
You can only get through with a boulder
You can get the boulder out the other side
If you get the boulder out the other side then you will have reset the pathway
You can't go the wrong way through the path
I'll pm you a link to a picture of the design (because I'm sure you'll want it)

It does do everything you say! However, i would like it to reset even if you don't take the boulder out the other side. Ideally it would reset AND you would HAVE to take the boulder out the other side.
Actually, let's make that the stated goal here. Using solids, sliders, and teleporters, make a thing that you have to have a boulder to get through, and that you have to exit still pushing the boulder, and that resets itself.

or, prove such a device to be impossible.

Let's allow boulders to be used in the design as well. Solids, empties, teleporters, sliders, and boulders.

After being completely convinced it was impossible before I think I've done it. The new design is such that:
It only uses solid, empty, slider and boulder tiles
You can only get through with a boulder
You can only get out with a boulder
If you come out then you will have reset the path
It also has the following undesirable properties:
It's possible to get stuck in the pathway
The pathway takes up about half of a board
It only uses solid, empty, slider and boulder tiles
You can only get through with a boulder
You can only get out with a boulder
If you come out then you will have reset the path

Mine is the same except it only takes up about a sixth of the board.

I don't think anyone else is attempting to make this, so let's see your design. Here's mine:
