As to the free will bit. Every other time randomness is used in science it's used to cover up something more complicated underneath (eg. the problem of determining whether a coin will land heads or tails). I think there's a strong argument to say that randomness is not an entity in itself. If some e...

I've tried to write this to avoid provoking further discussion (as Quantum's fed up with it). If you want to respond then PM me or something (though I'm out of the country from Sunday evening for two weeks). Flimsy you've written a lot of stuff, some of which is specific to some Christians, some of ...

http://img53.imageshack.us/img53/4549/frame20xl.gif Assuming there exists a god with quite a lot of power, and given that there are a large number of people in the world who don't know anything about such a god, then the only reasonable conclusion I can come up with is that the god doesn't want dis...

I wrote a bf executer in ZZT a few years ago, and then thought it would never be interesting to anyone, but it turns out someone else has done the same thing. Brilliant! I can't remember the exact specifics of my engine, but there was roughly a register for each column on the board. Each column coul...

I don't think it would be too obvious, JDM's right. I think the challenge of an inventory based game should be similar to the point of a text adventure - to work out how to use each object. Otherwise you could just be searching round everything in the room that remotely looked like an object. There ...

I think if at all possible the directional shooting would be best. Although tombraider has automatic aim turned on, this would be a very different automatic aim. Lara Croft will aim about 45 degrees from the way she's facing automatically, whereas this ZZT character would only be able to automatical...
