Re: What are you listening to.. except.. yeah
Merry Christmas 3 years later, lol. :hmmmm: Having a listen to the soundtrack to Rakuen. At first blush, it looks like a Yet Another Game Made With RPG Maker, but quickly turns to a plotline that will break your heart in half if you have one at all. Mild spoiler alert: the end hits ten times harder ...

Re: The Freeware Thread
Ken's Labyrinth is not only freeware but has the source code available! Basically a Wolfenstein 3D clone with a silly plot including a pet dog and functional vending machines. The shareware version was quite fun back in the day; watch out for the self-portable holes! Worth a playthrough or two - don...

Re: The Freeware Thread
More good news on the freeware front: SkiFree, the iconic Windows 3.1 classic where your journey always ended with getting eaten by the Abominable Snowman, got an updated 32 bit release after the author lost-then-found the source code: https://www.classicdosgames.com/game/SkiFree.html Has its own of...

Re: The Freeware Thread
Chopper Commando has been released by the author, Mark Currie, and is exceptionally rare for not only getting an UPDATE after its freeware release but also a complete remake in 2020 due to a talented fellow Chopper nostalgic. Despite antiquated CGA graphics it has surprisingly high replay value due ...

Add some new banner links to text-mode games and nerd comics
I noticed the banner ad for Order of the Stick, which is still going quite strong, and it got me thinking. There are several text-mode games such as NetHack, Angband and Dwarf Fortress that still have quite an active fanbase and are thus visually similar to ZZT. Some banner links to them could help ...

Last Call Productions
Company title page - https://imgur.com/gallery/403DvQU Officially announcing the formation of Last Call Productions. LCP has two goals. #1 is the completion and production of "Seasons", best described as equal parts puzzle, playable thank-you letter, and tribute to a wonderful community. #...

Update the smilies section
Can we add a few upscaled ZZT objects, make some of the existing custom ones the same size, maybe nuke a couple of the really old meme ones that are long past being funny? Also the Commander Keen one shows a different icon when posted then when in post-edit mode.

Re: ClassicZoo - improved ZZT 3.2 experience
Dammit, what I wouldn't give for a time machine so i could send this back 20 years. Keep up the great work! If i can get Last Call Productions off the ground I would love to use ClassicZoo to make my game "Seasons". So with the new board size, does that allow for full length songs? Any cha...

Re: Lowtax is dead. Help his kids.
What a fucking awful way to #endgame. 3 kids, a spouse, oh yea and your legacy is an abuser. SomethingAwful was indeed a part of my youth, and it's sad to see that the man behind it was a monster . I will indeed be chipping in to help. I'm about to welcome my OWN daughter and this hits me right in t...

Re: How have you guys been doing over the past two years or so?
Weathered it surprisingly well. :keen: Scored a work-at-home job and found out we are getting the baby that doctors always told my wife she would never have. Preparing to retire from gaming as a whole for ~20 years. I will dearly miss the communities - the jokes, the memes, the "VICTORY!" ...

"Seasons" - a game I'm willing to sponsor
I've had an idea for a new ZZT game bouncing around in my head for quite some time :rocket: , even storyboarded it a bit, but professional studies are eating all my scant spare time and a new baby coming soon is going to mean no spare time for about the next ~2 decades. As a good few games are now i...

Kongregate shutting down huge parts of website on July 22
I imagine that most ZZT'ers also are fond of Flash games, the ones we all loved to sneak a play at in class when teacher's back was turned. One of the biggest websites for them, sadly, is cutting massive parts of their website in a couple weeks. That includes nearly all of the chats for a particular...
