Reuploaded, as the zip file seemed to get eaten in the move to the new server/domain/whatever. Looks like I had poor timing for uploading, but so it goes.
Still quiet1.zip

Thanks for you all's care and support. Uploaded it and it should be in the appropriate folder as quiet1.zip Hope you all enjoy it -- hope it's mostly okay. RobertP had a few suggestions that I honestly don't have the energy to sift through the code and try and fix, but it shouldn't be anything compl...

Our son came and passed yesterday. The pain and love I feel is monumental but still too much. Thanks for your care and support. On a side note, I'll go ahead and upload the first file. It's done though not 100% tested, but it's ready enough. Who knows when I'll get the drive to finish the second fil...

Small update. Had the first file pretty much 100% done minus a bit more testing. Thanks again Robert P, you've been awesome going through everything like you have. File 2 work? Not a lot done at the moment, still. Things have been very crazy recently and will only get crazier as the due date approac...

I only use the dos version of kevedit, if you use the windows version things might be different since it's got more memory to work with, but that might actually make it more dangerous since it is able to access more RAM than ZZT itself can. That's a good point. Then again, the dos version of kevedi...

In my experience the stability issue with exceeding sizes is mostly on the programming end where sometimes corruption can occur. Something might display and save in the editor correctly, but on reload be completely screwed. Make several backups as you push the size higher and higher into the danger...

whats the file size and how many boards are there? File 1 26 Boards 276 KB (You could say I tried to pack it in) File 2 52 Boards (planned) 60 KB (just started in earnest yesterday) I've seen more than a few .zzt files that are over 300k. Would it be fair to say that ~350kb is an acceptable size li...

I cranked up the cycles a ton and ZZT runs pretty smoothly now -- but that rooms still gives me a lot of trouble. I guess there's just a crap ton going on.

Try increasing the cpu cycles of DosBox. You can do it by holding down control and tapping F12 I think. Or you can edit the DosBox config file to make it run at the best possible speed. Thanks, I did just that and it fixed a lot of sluggishness. But in rooms that have a lot of checking objects it s...

Posting in this thread about a Dosbox question. Finally got around to setting it up to play some older ZZT games but I found that it runs zzt pretty slow. Rooms that have an object #cycle 1 flag checking are ridiculously slow. Any help for how to fix this? Or is it just my computer? (macbook pro run...

File 1 is ready for testing. Hooray. Just need to find a few people to test it. If anyone is interested I'd be happy to email it to you (just respond in thread or just send me a PM). Hopefully I'll be done with file 2 around the middle of next month. Music is crap and sound effects are not fully imp...

If you're using #bind that shares the code. So when one #zaps, everybody's :touch gets zapped. Really? Woah, how did I not know that? That's an easy fix at least. Then again, I have other objects that are bound together that were zapping touch okay before. Now they aren't as much. It's a very stran...
