Can you set objects to respond to you pressing a key?

Only by using the ?+(flag) engine. I used it a whole lot in the Dizzy games.

I think there was a way to do it with T. Something to do with taking torches, yeah. And of course, Super ZZT lets you use H to activate the :hint label. Other than those, and the ? key for setting flags, all you have are the movement keys and the shooting keys (think player clone trapped in a box with sensors). You can substitute Spacebar for Shift+Arrow if you want.

well, the game that Nano recently made has it to where if you push the space button, a box will appear. The space bar automaticly shoots in the direction you recently moved. however shift doesn't work without the direction keys. He's got it set up with the character in the center of water and objects and each time you push space, you don't have to choose the direction with shift, its the direction you've recently gone. you could try something like this.

In the center of water? Isn't it usually done with breakables? I imagine that a clone trapped inside water would bleep and display the water message every time you moved. :ravenana: Ravenana knows what I'm talking about.
