Rogue is pretty different from most Roguelikes, strangely enough. In fact, a lot of the features that normally define a Roguelike are not present in Rogue. Strange, but true. :D

What features other than permanent death, random dungeons, random items and random monsters define a roguelike? Not to mention stuff like wilderness and shops that originally appeared in early Rogue variants.

Actually the similarities between ZZT and Rogue are really small but, uhh...in some way they are alike. FOR SOME REASON THERE IS A MYSTICAL CONNECTION BETWEEN THEM.
