The Most Unwanted Song

In the 1990s, some artists took a survey to find out what the public likes and hates in music. Then they made a song that statistically most people should like and one that most people should hate. (They had done the same thing earlier with paintings.)

The highlight of the project is the "Most Unwanted Song."
The most unwanted music is over 25 minutes long, veers wildly between loud and quiet sections, between fast and slow tempos, and features timbres of extremely high and low pitch, with each dichotomy presented in abrupt transition. The most unwanted orchestra was determined to be large, and features the accordion and bagpipe (which tie at 13% as the most unwanted instrument), banjo, flute, tuba, harp, organ, synthesizer (the only instrument that appears in both the most wanted and most unwanted ensembles). An operatic soprano raps and sings atonal music, advertising jingles, political slogans, and "elevator" music, and a children's choir sings jingles and holiday songs. The most unwanted subjects for lyrics are cowboys and holidays, and the most unwanted listening circumstances are involuntary exposure to commericals and elevator music. Therefore, it can be shown that if there is no covariance—someone who dislikes bagpipes is as likely to hate elevator music as someone who despises the organ, for example—fewer than 200 individuals of the world's total population would enjoy this piece.
You can download both the most wanted song and the most unwanted song here.

they could have tried to make it less musical. It actually showcases too much talent.

Ahaha the second one is grand. I agree, there's much worse music than that.

the "most wanted" song is hideous, i've yet to be able to stand more than a minute of it.

heard 'em a year ago, they rule a lot

the paintings are great too, the "most wanted painting" is just the same thing over and over (a landscape with a family and/or animals, while some guy smiles over them benevolently for some reason) while the most unwanted painting in denmark is a cubist representation of a man complaining that he has a boner

do all your shopping... at wal-mart

the only least wanted painting that's in really poor taste seems to be Italy's, the rest of the unwanteds look like generic gallery fare that are probably unwanted because it reminds the general populace of how much they can't grasp modern art

the most wanted paintings all look like something that you buy at a flea market

Yeah... both of the paintings and songs have to be a joke. Cause, throwing in a leader of the country seemingly random makes it automatically the most wanted? Da fuck?

I don't know, I'd like to hang some of these least wanted paintings on my wall more than the most wanted ones. But maybe I'm just a least wanted person... And don't even get me STARTED on this least wanted song...!
