Remember MYST ZZT, ZZTris, and all the other classic zzt remakes of classic games? It's time once again to MAKE SOMETHING UGLIER AND HARDER TO USE.

Yes, it's time to remake Town of ZZT... in ZZT.

For an added challenge, try doing this without a copy of town of zzt on hand.

This contest was genius, but I never got anywhere near finishing my entry, so instead I'm just going to write the idea I had for it.

My idea was to make a ZZT engine in ZZT. Has this been done before? The major challenges which I thought you might come across were:
Picking up items
Passages
Joining boards smoothly (eg. if a player leaves a board in one place, but joins it again in another)
Prefab creatures
Object interaction

I was planning just to hack something together for anything I couldn't work out how to do, but the emphasis should be on robustness.

I remember somebody once simulated conway's game of life in conway's game of life. Each cell was like 80 cells wide and tall, and it took over a thousand generations to complete one generation.
