you mean nwobhm (new wave of british heavy metal; yeah i know, but it was new at the time), which later mutated into power metal once europeans got their grimy mitts on it and shoved dragons into every other song, and yeah they were one of the first. this means they are responsible for rhapsody and hammerfall (lol) but also sonata arctica (awesome).
