Does anyone know if people 18 years or younger are allowed to buy matches or lighters?

I've tried, and they didn't let me. So I just went to some garage sale and bought a pack of 50 lighters

most of which I blew up =(

Try a bunch of different stores. There's no law that says they can't sell them to you, it depends on store policy.

My friend and I are seventeen and we bought zippos at walgreens. It's funny, when we were looking at them, there was this guy and his wife who passed by us and he was like 'don't buy lighters' or something. People are strange.

Yes, I got lucky and got a lighter from Walgreens once. Behind the counter was an employee and a trainee. The employee said I couldn't buy it so I just stood there, not saying anything. Soon, the trainee just said that I was allowed to buy one so then I got it.

I've been carded buying lighters before. I think there is a law. But it may vary by state.

I've never had a problem buying matches; even when I bought two packs of 250 and a package of tennis balls.

I just found out that you only have to be 16 to buy fireworks in Utah.
