Wow... that's odd.

So yesterday, I went to see the "re-invisioning*" of Romero's classic, "Dawn of the Dead". I hated the idea of the movie being re-made, because the 1978 version is the only version we really need. I hate how Hollywood always takes old movies and books and whatever and fucks them up with the god-awful overuse of fucking CGI or whatnot, or they re-write the key points of the good stuff and totally trash the stories, or they paste other movie attributes into them, resulting in a piece-of-shit movie. They always change what DOESN'T NEED TO BE CHANGED. We DON'T NEED remakes.

It's been my experience that films based on these principles are fucking awful, but I wanted to give this one a chance, so I went to see it. And honestly, I had to say that I actually enjoyed it.

There are some things that I could've done without. With the zombies in this movie running super-fast and shit, it seemed like they were trying for "28 Days Later". And the title of the movie, "Dawn of the Dead", really isn't necessary in my opinion. Aardvark. The only things that they really borrowed from the real film were the shopping mall, the title, and the tagline. Without those, I think that it would've done fine as it's own zombie film.

You can never tell which films to give a chance. Some turn out okay, and some real fucking suck-ass. But when it comes to this movie, all in all, I suggest seeing it.

* re-invisioning is a way of saying remake without sounding like an asshole, but fails

This thread is stupid, with the exception of zamros's enlightening comment of course.

YES. Remake the very worst movies; they can only get better.
