A two-to-four hour nanogame contest? I might come, I'll check to see if I'm doing anything saturday night.
Will you be on IRC at that time?

That's why the hours are so early; for me to stay on IRC the whole (or most of) the time!
Maybe i could do Saturday 1 PM too... i think.
And it's 8 hours, i listed the dates when i START the contest
so 8 AM-12 AM means i can start at 8 AM, 9 AM, 10 AM, 11 AM, 12 AM.
And then you add 8 hours to it. Easy. :)
So if I start at 12 AM, it goes on to 8 PM.
Timelist for Saturday:
12 AM -> 8 PM
11 AM -> 7 PM
10 AM -> 6 PM
9 AM -> 5 PM
Also, i can do Sunday 9AM -> 5 PM, 10 AM -> 6 PM and 11 AM -> 7 PM too. You decide when.

Well, here's your time zone next to mine for saturday:
http://timeanddate.com/s/y49
Of these times, one later in the day would probably work better for me. So, 12:00 to 20:00 preferred (if you're sure it'll only be 8 hours).
Any other time zones involved here? I'd like to match up the time zones like I did with mine and Asiekierka's here so I can see if there's an 8-hour stretch that nobody will be asleep during part of.

You crazy youngsters with your nanogames! You crack me up.
I started working on a game, on sunday, when I found out about the contest, about an hour before the deadline in some alien timezone. I'm distributing the given 24 hours liberally, but it will get done.
edit: uploaded. also: thumbs up for a Weekend of ZZT with a site!

You guys are doing it all wrong. A 24hozzt needs a website. It needs promotion on the front page. It needs people to sign up and have their names right there on the page. Half-assing it won't work!

Also it needs regularity. A random 24hozzt will just be forgotten. If it is the Fall 24hozzt, then the winner has won the season. The winner then gets to host the Winter 24hozzt. There is a certain legitimacy to it, especially because it has been anticipated for months. An event, you know. If the topic of the 24hozzt thread is "hey maybe we should like have a 24hozzt or some shit" it just seems like some throwaway contest that nobody will care about. Making a 24hozzt game is not easy -- people need motivation.

I will put in a $2 incentive to the winner of the next 24hozzt.

I could host it on a monthly basis. And the winner of one 8hozzt gets to be one of the judges of the next one.
I mean something by possibly:
Let's assume:
- Users AA, BB, CC, DD, EE, FF, GG are patripicating.
- 3 judges
First we have the first cast of judges (let's call them HH, II, JJ).
Then assume EE wins. EE CAN be a judge for the next one, and then
the 3 judges decide who quits. If they can't, I help. So, let's assume II quit for the winner (EE).
Next contest (Judges: HH, EE, JJ).
Users AA-DD, FF-GG, II.
Assums DD wins, but he doesn't want to judge, so the same cast.
Next contest (HH,EE,JJ)
Users AA-DD, FF-GG, II.
AA and BB are both winners. So, there are some options:
A) They decide which one gets to judge and that person judges.
B) If 2 judges quit, both AA and BB are the next judges
C) I decide which one goes in and in place of which one.
I wonder if you know a better system, making sure i'm still hosting every one, except when i can't :P
