I realize it's been ages, but Beta 13 has just been uploaded. Either wait for the update to take place or look at it in the uploads section.

Oh yes, I forgot to mention this, but this thread should also double as a Feature Request thread, I don't want to start a third thread for this kind of thing.

I'm running out of ideas for features for ZZTxp, so I want you to suggest some good ideas. Not all ideas will be in ZZTxp unless they're reasonable. That means no suggestions for pixel shaders and MP3 support and such.

Well, here's the catch. It has to work in the confines of the ZZT file format. That means, if the ZZT file format can't do it, then I can't. Don't suggest saving games, as it's already near perfection.

I've been working on this project only 5 months, it's gone far, but school is back and it's haunting me. Don't expect frequent updates like last time.

PC Speaker emulation would be useful for some people. Nowadays it's actually possible to have a computer without a PC Speaker.

Yeah, then we'd have fewer reviews containing "I can't rate the sound because I can't get ZZT sound to work."

Apparently you guys haven't tried ZZTxp, or you have something way ancient... here's the link for the latest:

http://zzt.org/upload//ZZ ... BETA13.zip

(and yes, I'll be changing it when/if it uploads.)

I heard about it, but promptly forgot about it. :ha: Hitler here knows what I'm talking about.

Well, my problem is that I have PC speakers, they're just really, really quiet and I have to turn the volume up to "intergalactic disruptor" setting to get even a peep out of them. That includes when I was testing MadTom's music for Frost!

It's not really a problem until I forget to turn it down again and I turn the computer off at like 1am and suddenly Herc's voice (which I use for my startup/shutdown sound) screeches "I GOT A DISEASE!!!!! IM MUTHAFUCKIN INSANE IN THA MEMBRANE!!!!!!!!!!!!!" at 350 decibels.

There are some beautiful things about old laptops, and adjustable PC speaker volume is one of them. And headphone jacks.

Which is probably the main reason I compose so much PC speaker music.

I can't here the pc speaker unless there is nothing on in my room. It actaully took me awhile to notice both the Respite and Frost themes because of this.

I remember that on a really old computer I used to play ZZT on, the drum noises were awesome. They were like these loud popping and scratching noises that worked together so well. But any other computer I play ZZT on just makes feeble "tick" noises that all sound nearly identical. Pah.
