This doesn't feel right, like forced laughter or that other thing. It's like there's nothing else to say. I could move over to DMZX but that would feel neglectful, and as much as I'm learning to accept the community is dead, I think we should do something. We could move to Belsambar (not likely, but I'd like to start from scratch and try to be less hostile), we could make a giant "RIP" banner on the main page (but I don't want to admit defeat just yet), we could do any number of things to go out with a fight, and we've even taken on some more people, but the point stands that there's not much space left to explore.

I shall now take a moment of silence to remember Powerpoint and/or ZZT.

Okay, that didn't work because it's a forum and we're not all in synch. Maybe I'll come back later and try having fun with a less negative outlook. I could go back and rewrite this whole post to sound less whiny but I think the sentiment should be out there: making more picture forums won't keep a community alive.

Don't panic!

A couple of good games have been made the past.. seven months. Which I think is really cool, considering all the other things the authors could've been doing in their spare time.

I wasn't active on this forum back when it was crowded and everyone shouted at eachother. I did join, at some point, but I didn't really feel involved. I'm not sure if you would've felt in place.

Maybe the community will grow. It's also quite possible that there won't be more people and that this is it. I remember people declaring ZZT to be dead since 1998 or so, which never really meant much other than a singular expression of discontent by some lone guy who thought he was the most important person in ZZT, usually followed by his departing from the scene.

Don't get me wrong, I don't think this is the case with you. What I mean to say is this: ZZT is not dead as long as a couple of us are still interested in playing and working on games.

Maybe we could make a game together?

it's a damn computer program. computer programs are pretty tough to kill. also I still use it like a three dollar whore. hell I used it yesterday, and it was looking fine. no signs of disease or anything that would suggest it is about to die.

I'm frightened about trying to open up ZZT in Vista. My fear of it not working has stopped me from trying.

"ZZT" runs in Vista under DosBox (I've done it, but sometimes it fullscreens wacky) and OpenOffice-brand presentations run just fine.

Woah, who's idea was this, again? replacing "ZZT game" with ZZT Game is more confusing then the Zaphod emoticon with no colons around its name.

If ZZT is ZZT, then is Megazeux OpenOffice Impress?
Oh dang, someone thought of that too, it's Megazeux. Is Megazeux open source? Who's idea was all this anyway?
