Hey Commodore, are you going to upload your entry?

my computer is on the other side of the country, i just moved so I need my buddy to ship it out. Or I need him to email me the file, but it's all packed up so that would sort of be annoying to ask him to do. I will though when I get it.

I'm glad to see the ZZT community is still having contests.

Unfortunately, nothing much became of this contest. Skullie vanished a few days before the contest deadline. We've uploaded four of the entries to z2, though.

And people still haven't reviewed my massive incomplete garbage from years ago to now.

It was interesting. Kev-san's certainly gotten quite savvy on a literary level since, well, awhile. A surprisingly comfortable experience considering the strawmanning and attempts to tear down my belief system.

RPG battles were cool. I thought it some of the attacks were quite creative and that the number display was awesome. The drawings that there were were pretty quality; probably the best was Raphael's battle picture. Aside from that battle, though, I wasn't a big fan of the battle graphics, although in all fairness I don't know of any solid way to visually represent Yahweh either. Aside from that they weren't my favorite, but they got the job done.

The writing was generally good. This may be on account of bias but there were times I felt it descended into blatant attacks on religion (as opposed to subtle attacks, which are much more tolerable and much more acceptable as goes writing style, IMHO.) There were quite a few funny lines--I think if it'd had more comedy I'd have enjoyed it more. My favorite line was something like "I took down John Donne," said by Death; actually produced a chuckle.

At any rate, if (as I might assume) this is to be the end of kev-san's ZZT career, then there are many worse ways to finish.

Why is this not in reviews? Honestly, because I don't feel like I'd be able to give it a fair review rating, because of the belief system issues--either I'd overcompensate for whatever biases I might have there by overscoring it, or I'd underscore it because of whatever those biases are.

The furor over onanism has been an acutely frustrating cultural phenomenon: pregnant with great possibility, touching on vital and fascinating issues, yet initially formulated in a one-sided and stupid manner that will carve out space in the mainstream for silly politics in the blink of an eye. What's important to note, however, is that Mr. Thomas R. Buddhist's apologues share many of the same characteristics. To begin at the beginning, I shall not argue that Thomas's newsgroup postings are an authentic map of his plan to limit the terms of debate by declaring certain subjects beyond discussion. Read them and see for yourself. Whenever anyone states the obvious -- that we are becoming a nation of wishy-washy ingrates -- discussion naturally progresses towards the question, "What in perdition does Thomas think he's doing?" I've never gotten a clear and honest answer to that question from Thomas. But what is clear is that he is addicted to the feeling of power, to the idea of controlling people. Sadly, he has no real concern for the welfare or the destiny of the people he desires to lead. He likes thinking thoughts that aren't burdensome and that feel good. That's why Thomas likes credos that cause one-sided belief systems to be entered into historical fact. Could there be a conflict of interest there? If you were to ask me, I'd say that he likes to brag about how the members of his terrorist organization are ideologically diverse. Perhaps that means that some of them prefer Stalin over Hitler. In any case, it has long been obvious to attentive observers that as Thomas feels less and less need to conceal his publications, he makes increasingly open moves towards hectoring sexism. But did you know that Thomas has an utter disregard for human life? Thomas doesn't want you to know that because he uses the very intellectual tools he criticizes, namely consequentialist arguments rather than arguments about truth or falsity. And there you have it. Mr. Thomas R. Buddhist's endeavors are a hotbed of fanaticism.*
