High Score/Time Attack

Post by Microwave »

Are there any ZZT games that you think would be suitable for high score/time attack listings/competitions? You can just use HyperCam and Youtube to submit your playing of the game. I suppose I could start yet another game with this being the main idea.

Dr. Dos did that for Town of ZZT. If you look, you should be able to find it.

EDIT: Found it: http://zzt.org/fora/viewtopic ... 47&start=0

It's way too slow since I had to use dosbox so movement was choppy.

I also did Dungeons.

Was going to do city but you need like 100 gems to get to the mayor and fuck that.

In that thread quantum links to an ascii recorder program though so you could try using that.

I dunno about time attack but I'd enjoy competing for highscore in an arcade-like game (like Ultimate Dungeon or whatever that random dungeon crawl was called).
I'm nupanick.

Scramble Dash Dungeons and the Operation O'Brian games would probably be good to speedrun.

Although the dungeon game your talking about is Dungeon Guru or whatever.

Fuck. This inspired me to attempt a speedrun of some other games.

I was 12 minutes into Burger joint and I fucked up. All the text you have to watch slows things down so I was playing on the second fastest speed and the jock moved just slightly too quickly for me to get around the door in time.

Dosbox/HyperCam works fine for me. I set the CPU up to 13000-15000 cycles when I use ZZT and for the most part it's pretty nice.

I don't have anything else to add to this at the moment... But I am still interested. A game idea I had was to have a bunch of rooms and #put monster streams with a torch timer. Kinda like a time attack Smash TV.

Aura was awesome, man. Inspired me to try making an engine game, even though I never got to the boss stages.
I'm nupanick.
