I'm on shitty Home Basic so I mean if it works on that it should work on all the fancy versions.

Are you on 64-bit I guess?

yes. 16-bit bytecode interpreters cannot be compiled onto a 64-bit vista, i'm afraid. and believe me, i've tried.

Fun fact: I killed a friend's computer trying to install Alcohol 120%. It was an older version, and evidently Vista Does Not Like Alcohol and kept rebooting every time it tried to install some driver or something. Which, of course, was anytime you logged in (and sometimes before!)

Subject: You there!

You're one of the locals, aren't you? I've been stranded in the .net jungle for days! Where is everyone?

Figured you might be able to use those couple of lines to spark some interest. Or somekind of variation thereof.
Meh, can't beleive how little I come to these forums now.

Wasn't he the guy who was going on about necrophilia or some such thing? I remember him. Not a bad chap, if a bit odd.

Um. Hi. I'm new.
This seemed the most appropriate place for such a thing.
ZZT was one of the first games I ever played, and it has a special place in my heart. I used to play around with the editor and even learned as much ZZT-OOP as my young brain could handle.

But now I'm back, and I've brought knowledge and understanding with me. Also my roommate. And let me just tell you folks: IT'S GAME TIME.

YAY. We have Seriousness now.

Ever heard of a 24HOZZT yet? It's a contest where you make a game in 24 hours, then vote on the best game. I think Asiekierka or somebody might be hosting one soon.
I'm nupanick.

Sounds mighty tempting, bu I think I'd better dive into some more serious creation before I make an ass of myself by shitting out something vaguely playable in 24 hours.

That, and I don't know when I'd find 24 hours to do it. Busy semester this time around. Plus the 24hr comic is coming up, and I don't know how many 24hr challenges I can handle in a short amount of time.

But uh, thanks for the offer.
Maybe next time. ;)

(or more likely, this time. Something gives me the sneaking suspicion that things happen somewhat... slowly... around here these days...)

that's what you get. But meh, it's better than a community of thousands where new posts go for pages and nobody know who each other is.

Also welcome. you should try and play some featured games to catch up on what you've been missing. also there's a longer list in the thread "GIMME GAMES. PRONTO!" a few topics down.

Cool, cool. I've been digging through the games list for a while now, mostly GoTM, cGoTM, and Featured Games, plus a few utilities, but I'm definitely up for some study time with the contents of a best-of list.

Play Burger Joint if you haven't yet, I'm pretty sure the consensus is that it's the best ZZT game ever.

not really, it`s in most people`s top tens though

i posted a huge list of zzt games worth looking at a little while ago, it`s not complete and it`s biased (i didn`t list games i don`t like, obviously, so there`s no november eve or operation obrien) but you could do worse: http://zzt.org/fora/viewtopic ... 9616#59616

they`re not all GOOD, per se, but they`re worth checking out.................
he looked upon the world and saw it was still depraved :fvkk:

No no no, i'm not hosting a 24HOZZT. I don't have enough time.
However, i plan a BKIZZT, a time where we brainstorm game ideas for a hour. Yeah, we can think of ideas. Everyone can organise it for their game so they can gather ideas. The results would be secret.
The first BKIZZT will be for my dumbgame, "One Bon Bon is Poison".
