How do you use STK?
I have downloaded the Super Tool Kit, and I don't know how to use it. How do you?
I am a random person using Firefox.

1. open stk in the editor
2. find the specific wall, terrain, object etc you want to use
3. position cursor over it, press "enter" (also do this to edit the properties of anything with stats, such as an enemy or object)
4. you now have that particular item in your cache, use it wisely... (draw with tab, fill with x)
as well as stk, i recommend z-files, a collection of zzt toolkits by cool zzt toolkit making dudes, lovingly compiled by myself, or if you want more in the same vein as stk, there's also morestk and weirdstk by chronos30, which are hell of useful for doing more esoteric things with (mostly graphical, but still, useful)
you could also use kevedit, but i mainly only like that for its cut/paste function (i'm a purist)
i hope this helps you in your pursuit for knowledge! onwards and upwards... forever upwards...

It's in the editor help. Hit "H" while in the editor, select "Editor Commands", and scroll down to the very bottom:
And like zamros, it took me quite some time before I figured this out.[T] Transfer: Import or Export boards.
Allows individual boards to be brought in or out of worlds. A board from one world can be written to a file, then read back into a different world.

it took me a little while to work out the import/export thing, i think i came across it by randomly pressing buttons to see if there were any hidden editor commands, rather than actually reading the docs
it took me longer to figure out flags, i don't know why that took me like 3 months to grasp, jesus i was stupid

If you're still around and taking suggestions mr phile, I'd suggest also looking at madtom's memory management article which doubles as a good ZZTOOP style guide. It helped me very much when starting out -- for example you can type #loop instead of #send loop.

MadTom wrote:And so, the User Articles section of Z2 came into being! In this section of the site, you can read articles, in either HTML or ZZT format, submitted by those generally acknowledged to be masters of their trade, revealing a little about their methods and technique; you may find articles from artists like Zenith Nadir and drac0, musicians like WiL, Viovis, Kev Carter, and jojoisjo; programmers like Benco and Madguy and writers like John W. Wells. Or you might not; it all depends whether they decide to submit anything or not!
