I still wish for music

I have no programming skill to do so, but I wish a ZZT clone could be made to support midi, mod, or even mp3 music somehow - I know MZX can play music, I just never took the time to learn that language. Perhaps I should? I just love ZZT!

Right now it only supports #PLAY statement chiptunes (albeit with multiple channels and a few effects):

But you definitely aren't alone in wanting MOD, MIDI, MP3, and possibly OGG support. Such formats are on my "advanced features" list.

MIDI, unfortunately, would be one of the more difficult formats to support because uncertain soundfonts make a mess of how any one tune "should" sound when played back. WAV and MP3 would be easy, and MOD would be slightly harder, but MIDI is the only one I'd consider hard to the point of controversy.

Hey Hay, This one supports mp3, midi and pc speaker (not so much) but no mods: http://webchars.com/edit.php

There's always the zzt–to–mzx converter or you can just convert mids and mods to zzt.
