I remember when I first started visiting zzt.org, I assumed that somewhere there was an office staffed with 10-20 people responsible for maintaining the different parts of the site, reviewing games, shuffling paperwork, etc.

It never occurred to me that there might not be any money in ZZT games (early shareware experiments aside).

I remember thinking that all the ZZT companies (MIG, etc.) were actual companies, and they'd, like, hire you and pay you a salary for your work and it was all super professional and profitable.
