Washing Machine Religion

They say that you can form an organized religion to last for Centuries of Religious Oppression, Dogma and everything, all based on the instructions for a Washing Machine.
If you haven't gotten the point of that one before let me point this one out.
Washing Machine Instructions wrote:For continued quality of use, and Hygiene, wash this item regularly
Cold Water not needed for thorough cleaning
Rinse thoroughly in Washer with color-safe detergent(s)
Do not use Bleach
Spin Cycle only (do not use still water)
Recommended use of Delicates setting for continued wearability
Okeyyyyy...
I'm not sure if you're following how that can possibly be used for Organized Religion... YET.
Religious Faith Instructions wrote:For continued Quality of Life, and to keep your soul pure, re-iterate beliefs on a regular basis
Intellectual Pursuit is not needed for clarity on your beliefs
Continue to follow these beliefs sticking to only 'safe ideas'
Do not use Deductive Reasoning
Continue to give up Life's pleasures regularly (do not let temptation grab hold of you by you slowing down your own recitals)
Recommended that you are Monogamous (only Love one other person at a time) for sustained longer relationships
Still not getting the picture here?
Let me make some more direct reference to Catholicism in particular.
Catholicism Faith Instructions wrote:For continued assurance of Salvation, and to be lead not into temptation, give thanks to the Lord our God and Savior for any and all blessings you receive on a regular basis.
Solo reflection on the meaning of one's own Life without input from a Church Official is not advised
Do not speak to the Excommunicated (so they don't block out the Love God shares with you by tempting you into a Love of mortal desires)
Do not bathe in running water (this will wash out your soul! )
Remain Chaste at all times
Recommended that you find a wife who is a Good Cook (so you will eat well when you are bound together in this life and the next with whoever you choose, and also so you'll be safe from the Sinful manipulations of Woman, such as if she boils a calf in its mother's milk and feeds it to you to hasten your fall to Satan)
Okay so I don't know how to quite put Christianity's Dogma throughout the Dark Ages into quite as few words as what you might see on mattress tags but you get my point.
It's far easier for people in Society to do what's easier over what's right, so much so, that they would sooner follow simple instructions to 'simplify' their difficult lives than be truly individual and find for themselves what their Life Experience really all means despite its difficulty.
It's why Satanists are so die-bold acting the opposite of what the Catholic Church deems Holy... not 'cause they are on the Devil's side just as 'devout Christians' are on God's side... but 'cause that's really the best way to give F.U. to the Church over making their 'Love of God's Love' forcible in nature...
...and why Africans brought over into Slavery in the U.S. quickly got into the White Man's Christian faiths before they even went from 'Negroes' to 'Colored' in what term Whitey used for 'em.

Considering that the Christian church has practiced baptism for a long while now, I'm going to go out on a limb and say that your facts aren't exactly straight.

Also there are plenty of polygamous relationships in Bible. Granted this is more about the organization of "The Church" and its delivery of the content rather than the content itself. I do agree with "people will do what is easy," but having talked constructively with many people of faith, many see belief in no God as easy, and having faith as hard. Where as many irreligious think the same about the other side in reverse. In short, forming an opinion is effortless, but holding an opinion takes work.

Yes, well, I'm trying to open discussion on the nature of religious Dogma rather than bash Religion outright to the point it can't be talked about rationally.
My point is that you could make a full-blown religion, Millenia of systematized Persecution and all, on a series of instructions about the length of Washing Machine Instructions.

Use of specifics here was just for making an example...
I'm pretty much having a beef with any organized religion.
It's why i don't have a problem with Hinduism.
There's like a different variant of Hinduism like every second street block in India and it's been that way for Millenia
so it's no wonder that they don't have 'forcible religion' the same way you see with
Zoaoastrain Religions (Judiasm, Christianity, Islam etc. ),
or I guess depending on Political Influence a more 'mandatory' nature of 'Eastern' religions (Taosim, Shinto, Buddhism),
or even Hare Krishna if you wanna call it that what with the guys always showing up at the airports.

I do want a more intellectual discussion but not to refrain from sense of humor about things.
If it were up to me everybody would be going down including Atheists and Agnostics.

You know, come to think of it, I don't think I've ever seen a hare krishna, except on TV, or in movies, or comics ("pear pimples for hairy fishnuts!" - bloom county). Of course I've never seen a dinosaur either.

I only know them from their Airport appearances in TV's South Park.
I didn't even see them on the show...
I was reading the South Park Guide to Life book someone got me for Xmas a couple of years back.
One of their whole 'excerpted scenes' used for their whole 'philosophical quotes' was about Mr. Garrison saying that I think we can all agree that the Hare Krishnas are really freaking Gay.

You will always be more prone to others' bigotry the smaller the proportions of your 'number of followers' to theirs...
What did you think Mary Shelly's FrankenStein was all about?

Every bigoted group hates harder down on those in even lower proportions...
Frankenstein's Monster was the only one of his own kind... so then of course... he was doomed to be killed by others' bigoted Hatred from the time of his Reanimation.

To me Frankenstein is about a twisted and masochistic love/hate relationship between a "mother" and a son, more than it is about alienation. Also hubris.

"I pitied Frankenstein; my pity amounted to horror: I abhorred myself. [...] I am content to suffer alone, while my suffering shall endure: when I die, I am well satisfied that abhorrence and opprobrium should load my memory. [...] I have devoted my creator, the select specimen of all that is worthy of love and admiration among men, to misery; I have pursued him even to that irredeemable ruin. There he lies white, and cold with death." - The Creature

There also the element of rebelling against your creator. Frankenstein rebels against God by creating life. The creature rebels against Frankenstein, and it's echoed when the creature learns English from reading Paradise Lost. The subtitle of the book, "The Modern Prometheus", of course refers to stealing fire from the gods.

White-collar city.
So what happens when self-loathing and religious oppression get mixed up together due to the religious losing faith over what their religion commands they do?

What is the significance of the limitations of a system? That point where contradictions crop up, where instabilities crop up, where the gears grind? Consider the borderlands between incoherence and intelligibility.

http://cengizerdem.wordpress.com/2013/0 ... -eternity/

Think about the flaws in self regulating systems. Small miscalibrations in, say, the flow of fluids in the body can lead to monstrous limbs (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lymphedema). The monster limb could be considered to simultaneously be a gross failure of the microsystem but a meta-function of the overarching macrosystem. What is the lesson of a bloated FOOT, of stubborness born of fear, of anything that impedes mobility of thought or action?

Now, let's talk about genitals, specifically your balls (http://www.angryflower.com/yourba.html). If I were to kick you in your balls with my FOOT they would swell with fluid (a non-rigid substance) and thus become more rigid. If I kicked you in the balls with a Lymphedema swollen FOOT the same would happen, except that the vessels and fluid sacks in my leg would burst, releasing vile liquid and leaving behind loose, non-rigid skin. Can you see the significance of this?

http://punctumbooks.com/titles/leper-cr ... symposium/

Rigid religions find release in acts of terrorism which, through fear, cause non-rigid societies to calcify with an excess of new rules and limitations intended to curtail more terrorism. The disease of leprosy is thus spread and the chaos of excessive global order increases.
(Rockets are exciting but they all need a stable launch pad)

Now: why are many of the most interesting people the most insufferable? Flimsy, for instance.

The answer to the conundrum lies in Metamagical Themas where Hofstadter (the Hof, as I affectionately like to call him) talks about how truly great composers are made by their consistant idiosyncrasies rather than by a flexible ability to mimic any other composer (think about the significance of this in morality versus psychopathy). Creative people are terrorists, altering the world by the fearful awe generated by their creations.

(God is the silent, empty void's worst nightmare because, even though the void is formless chaos, it achieves a static sameness when viewed as a totality).

Your problem is that you focus on the associations of the details of religion (the seemingly irrational rules) blinding yourself, leaving you unaware of the overarching tendencies of washing machine religion: structured insanity. Washing machine religion, in this final sense, is revealed to a part of all human minds, a part of creativity, and even part of the fabric of reality (order spawned by the interactions of entropy, a universe spawned from nothing for no reason).

You can't maintain your attitude about washing machine rules and be a good game (cross out) creator, particularly within a system as limited as ZZT. Consider Odin sacrificing an eye for the gift of poetry. Total freedom is total sterility (http://permanent-monday.blogspot.com/20 ... aming.html). Even in Flimsy's games, where disorder creates the exciting impression that anything could happen, chaos doesn't reign completely.

Now, back to your balls. You might not think it's very nice for me to kick them but, as a our good friend and cultural role model Hannibal Lector said: Taste isn't kind (http://www.stripcreator.com/comics/bencomic/356919).
