Non-ZZT/MZX Games by ZZT/MZXers

Post by Dr. Dos »

I'm curious as to anybody who kept on making games, and what they've finshed after moving on from ZZT and MZX.

Offhand I know of

Seiklus a Game Maker based platformer by clysm
Meritous a weird mashup of shmup and dungeon crawl by Lancer-X
Aftershocked! a point and click adventure by MadGuy
Between Heaven and Hell a sidescroller in the style of Out of This World/Another World, also by MadGuy
Contingency 88 a puzzle game based around gerrymandering an election, by me :pup:
Crystal Towers 2 a weird Genesis-era like platformer and probably a million tiny side games, by DavidN

(I don't think it's what I'm really looking for here, but also Exophase was repsonsible for the GBA emulator used for homebrewed PSPs.)
Visit the Museum of ZZT
Follow Worlds of ZZT on Twitter

Apologies for the old post you may have just read.

Little Square Things by craNKGod is a Windows game IN ADDITION to being a ZZT game and it's a lot better outside of ZZT.

Crank is also working on a platformer, Centuple Trouble

<strike>Greg</strike>ALEXIS Janson works/worked at WOTC making Magic: The Gathering. Does that count?

and probably more, but I don't feel like digging deeper.

I picked up a torrent off of the Corsair's Cove ("Super Awesome Indie Game Collection" or something like that) and found a couple of games by DavidN. I checked, and sure enough, it's the same DavidN that made Mercenary! Small world.

Gemini made PixelShips, a sort of shmup/collection hybrid.

There's a "bombdotcom.net"?
I saw bomb.com once and nearly laughed my arse off. Just a frontpage about nukes. It must be such an expensive domain reservation that nobody will buy it.

I rememer that the guy who made Nextgame 33 was working with a game creation engine, something that looked like 2D sidescrollers and demons/devils like the Red Arremer from ghosts and goblins was in the previews...
Anyone else remmeber this?

Oh! And Zander12! Who had a homepage with geocities with penguins and junk.
He made "Betra... wait... how do you spell that" and a ton of Jetpack levels including a Jetpack screenpack (look up Jetpack by Adept software and weep at the lack of a Jetpack 2 with parallax 2D backgrounds and realtime liquid material tiles)...

It was actually an Angelfire web site, and the reason I got into ZZT. I wouldn't have ever found out about ZZT were it not for Mister 12's website, even though I was only looking for Jetpack levels.

...And Betrayal was a 24HoZZT entry, a game made in ZZT. This thread is about non ZZT games made by ZZTers. tildetilde-san, you're such a baka.
But if we're talking about game mods or custom levels, I used to make bad Wolf3d maps, and I've tried a little bit of Doom mapping before I ran out of ideas and motivation. BUT I'M PRETTY SURE THOSE DON'T COUNT.

I recently discovered in my search for games made by my former AuroraSoft mates, Wong Chung Bang released a PC game under his real name, David Newton. He's made a few, Crystal Towers 2 seeming to be his most celebrated release.

Googling his name shows a few scattered results around the web for his other work.
