Can you create standalone EXE ?

Post by mrschwabe »

Is it possible to create a ZZT game that is simply a stand-alone EXE ?

And also, is it possible to remove the intro screens and jump right into your game? To essentially 'de-brand' your game so that players don't necessarily know you made the game with ZZT?

Any tips or suggestions would be appreciated! Thx

Yes! But, first, you have to write your own version of zzt capable of doing that.

Oct 1 2013:
You could just include lyon in your zip and tell people to run lyon. Honestly.

Edit:
Don't wanna add too much to my post count at once and having this incognito is key. Have to keep an average going. You could also compile it so it's working with the lost and legendary plastic.exe. That way you've got it good on all fronts. You can do a .exe only.. only thing, if you save and try to reload your save and it's an exe, it won't work.. so if you want saves enabled, include plastic.exe. I've used plastic once for an event in the hopes it would spread some simulated text ascii buzz, and yeah, a few people liked it, but you know. It's a well kept secret to unlock the powers of it, or to find it.
