Keyboard Issues
I was wondering, if someone could help with a dilemma that has apperaed.
My new laptop has a different registration for it's keys. When I press certain keys nothing happens such as Right Shift key and the [`] key. While other keys send the wrong information. ] gives me [ and \ gives me ]. The [ key does nothing. Is there a way to fix this when I run certain applications.
Dos Especially.

If the laptop was like this when you got it, I'd suggest taking it in to wherever you bought it, or calling Dell or HP or whoever the manufacturer is. You'd expect that basic functionality like that would work out of the box.
Otherwise, it almost sounds like someone pried off your keys and switched them around. Does the right side of your keyboard look like this (last 3 keys)?
Another thing you could try is booting the computer using a different operating system and seeing if the keyboard problems remain, in order to rule out a hardware problem.

Code: Select all

He's not telling you to install it, he's telling you to download an OS you can boot into from disc without installing it just to test and see if it's your physical keyboard that's fucked up, or if it's a software related problem. If the problem doesn't manifest in the "temporary" live CD operating system, it's software. Otherwise it's hardware.
The reindeer will eat you.
