Fantastic commentary. But you failed to notice the "club mix" designation, didn't you.Benco wrote:OH MY GOD! YOU HAVE A SHITTY SYNTH! WOWZA! I'VE NEVER SEEN ONE OF THOSE! AND IT DOESN'T HAVE A BUILT IN LOUDSPEAKER? TO BAD YOU STILL BOUGHT IT AT RADIOSHACK :)
And you know what, you had a shot at making this a decent dance pop song, you really did, but you fucked it up by using possibly the shitties arrangment I've ever heard. Oh gee, lets start with just a durm line and slowly build all the layers becuase that's BEEN DONE TO DEATH NOW and stopped being interesting in 1982.
Ohh, and I've been sharing this song with people since you first sent me the demo named short.mp3 over a year ago. I'm glad to see it's taken you this long to complete a single song.
GOD WHAT WERE YOU THINKING WITH THAT PIANO?
But really, I think you might be able to go somewhere with this. The vocoder line, while generic, works very well with everything else (except the piano) however, the good bits have such a beter quality then the crappy bits that it makes me wonder fi you really wrote every piece of this yourself.
and I'm only saying this becuase I hate you.
Lose the intro, this song has no staying power past being a 3 minute pop trance song. At 1:10, instead of losing that second beat it should jump right into 1:37 and just go right into that synth line. TO try to make some epic anthem here is just silly.
Also write more songs and don't post them here.
Club mixes always have a boring intro because disc jokeys have to have time to mix in the tune with the previous. The long breaks are there so that all the brutes on SMACK don't get heart attacks from nonstop beats.

Don't be fooled by the keys. It sounds exactly the same as the rackmount X5DR version. £700 originally in 1994; £400 new presently.Benco wrote:OH MY GOD! YOU HAVE A SHITTY SYNTH! WOWZA! Anyway, you're right to some degree. Pure Digital synths never have that warm feel that is required in commerical recordings. I plan to get the clavia nord rack soon, which is the analogue digital model synth. £700.
(Also, studio synth keybs never have speakers on them; if they did, they wouldn't be "studio" synths.)
