Chiptunes

Post by Zenith Nadir »

so last week i was thinking and i thought "hey, machinae supremacy are pretty nifty, huh". so i got to thinking as to why i like them and i came to the conclusion that it was mostly due to the wibbling chip music sound that they use a lot. then i remembered that seiklus had some of that, so i decided to download some mods of similar music.

as it happened, i was on irc at the same time. so i said "hey does anyone know where to download chiptunes" and madtom said "sure, i have a bunch boonob gave me" so i downloaded them off him via soulseek. i later discovered that these were culled from autofish.net. but they were not enough! so i went to modarchive.com, chiptune.com and chiptune.de and got a bunch more.

here is a zip of all the ones i liked.

i recommend using modplug to listen to them, by the way; winamp doesn't allow the loops and such.

what do you guys think??????????!!!!!!!!!!!!! r&r pls

Well, I like chip music a lot. However, your zip is too big or something and it only downloads until about 5 megs before crashing and burning.

Anyway, get Hybrid Song 2:20 (song_.xm) or remember (stal-rem.xm) if you don't have them already.

Oh, and mattias adventures (mattiasa.mod)

the tunes in seiklus were all from commodore games, the computer which of course had the SID chip, so looking for SID music might help you in your quest.

Perhaps I may direct you here: http://www.hvsc.c64.org/

hence the commodore64 covers in the Sidstyler songs and why they've described themselves as Sidrock.

this thread crashed into the nerd bus on the freeway, causing a fifteen car pile-up, the moment i said "fsck"

by doing this, i invoked the spirit of apage43 from beyond the grave

i'm sorry everyone

In addition to the old, classic stuff, modern musicians are still doing nice things with chiptunes. Here are a few examples:
