it's dosbox, but it also happens on my friend's laptop without DOSBox. don't know of any solutions, i suppose you could ask about it at the dosbox forum

If you're still around and taking suggestions mr phile, I'd suggest also looking at madtom's memory management article which doubles as a good ZZTOOP style guide. It helped me very much when starting out -- for example you can type #loop instead of #send loop.
