Re: Basic commands?

* It is only necessary to use # at the very beginning of a line to mark it as a command. #IF BLOCKED N PUT N EMPTY is a perfectly valid command. I thought Saxxon was being a LIAR, so I typed meldel's code verbatim. It didn't work. I noticed, however, that if I added just a carriage return to the fi...

Re: Where is the normal genreal chat. And alaska

No, you're in the right place. Goth Topic is the best place to put all your goth-related needs. I knew a girl at college from Alaska, but I don't know anyone online from there. I don't know Forth, but a quick Google search suggests that http://www.forth.org/tutorials.html might be a good place to st...

Re: No player hole on title?

It should answer many of the questions, but feel free to ask whatever you feel needs asking. The encyclopedia just has a lot of Really Cool Stuff that might help inspire you to make some ZZT. It also have code for some commonly-used objects (such as doors) that do not exist in ZZT by default. Also, ...

Re: Basic commands?

Board memory -- space. ~14k Certain objects and most prefab enemies use up memory (though I do not know off-hand how much per), which is why there are "stat-less objects", which are great if you want to have a bunch of smiley faces with no code (stat-less objects do not have any ZZT-OOP co...

Re: No player hole on title?

You cannot edit the player or monitor's code. You can use a monitor on other boards, but I forget what applications it might have. You should check out that encyclopedia that Commodore linked to in the other thread, since it has all sorts of wacky and wild programming tricks. I think there's a board...

Re: Basic commands?

You cannot delete boards in the built-in editor. Again kevedit. To clarify, you can clear a board of most of its information, but the board is still present unless you use KevEdit to delete it. In other words, if you have a 15 board game, and you decide to delete a board, in the original editor, th...

Re: Basic commands?

Could someone tell me what's wrong with my code here? You need to put another pound sign (#) before the second IF command. Also: :LOOP 'it is not necessary to name this as "loop", just FYI /i 'personal preference of mine would be to put this after the #if command so that the #if is execut...

Re: ZZT Slim, and voice in ZZT?

Would it be possible to make a version of ZZT that had only what I feel I would use? Would it replenish enough resources to be useful? If so how would I do something like this? I'm not sure what you mean by "remove". Do you mean to remove it (whatever "it" may be) from the ZZT e...

Re: Replacing object characters with graphics?

:learn: It's worth pointing out that not everyone will use your custom font, so design whatever games use it with that in mind (unless you're working on the font alone).

Re: (SPECIAL) message to Epic Forums for Tim or something...

You should post a link to Z2 here, and perhaps give a better detailed description of what exactly ZZT is (Sweeny's "magnum opus" and "best game creator back then" don't really explain much. Were you going for the mysterious angle?) I like your motivations, but the implementation ...

Re: Delete Old Threads

If we got rid of all the threads, there'd be nothing left! Except for this thread, and maybe two others.
Sorry!
But, if you make lots of useful, productive threads, maybe you could bury the old under the new! It's worth a try! :keen:
