Merry Christmas! I've dragged my butt doing this, but I finally managed to swap out the Flash version of the Hall of Music with an HTML5 version. This one should play on all browsers now without problems!
Zowie! What an early Christmas present! :keen:

Right back atcha!

Right now I'm listening to https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LtnDsEAtuz8

Found this CD album stuffed in a desk drawer and am enjoying it immensely. But if my wife rolls her eyes any harder they'll fall right out of her head.

Re: The Freeware Thread

If it's free software it's freeware. One might be picky and say that's how it has to be released, but I will not. Things like ROM's which are in the sketchy abandonware/owned catagory not so much even if "free." Also: Explobers - Official selection at SAAM Arcade 2018 (July 22 in Washingt...

The group dedicated to deciphering the work of Jack Masters

So I just discovered this is a thing. https://www.reddit.com/r/myZZTery/ :agh: I honestly don't know what to say except I'm floored by how dedicated (obsessed?) they are to cataloging and deciphering him. I've learned more about Flimsy in a half hour than I ever knew in the rest of my life. All I kn...

Re: The Freeware Thread

Do formerly-paid games specifically released by the makers as free count as freeware?

I've been made aware that Epic Games and many other makers of DOS games have generously opened their archives, releasing a lot of stuff to the public.

Am I right?
I sure hope so. What exactly is coming down the pipeline?

Re: ZZT VR Port

I love seriously considering zany proposals, so here's my 2 cents: it would be entirely possible to create a 3D game using entirely ZZT 'resources' like ASCII symbols, STK and movement. I've seen some damn beautiful images made with STK even with the 2-dimensional, low-res layout we're stuck with, a...

:prezbw: I think it's high time that banner is permanently retired. Whatever humor value it had has long since gone stale, and it leads to a message saying the website has been frozen. (I just clicked on it out of morbid curiosity) The Wayback Machine's most recent capture date is from 2007 . So now...

Really amazed by the Keyboard world. I've never seen anything like it at all!

Sad to hear that these will be your last games and hope that you stick around the forums. Thank you for all your contributions over the years.

Meet "Oolite", the fanmade sequel to Ian Bell's venerable Elite: As-is it's a dang fine successor to the original but of all things it specifically supports mods . At last count there are well over 500 of them, including landing on planets to space communists to just random stuff happenin...

Welcome back oldtimer! I too haven't been around in years and got brought back by the rights being bought. We'd really prefer if games were posted finished even if they are short...how "unfinished" is it?

Re: Nibblin': I finished an old project in 2018

Up on my feet applauding you, pal. I'll take a look at it when I get home. ZZT has a weird kind of cachet with the indie scene currently. Some of those itch games are also by former community ZZTers that are going by different names now. Pretty wild that ZZT games end up on the premier indie game st...
