player turned into lion by conveyor

I was playing through an older, vintage-style advenute world-- part 2 of a series of 3 games, but I can't remember the name-- and going west through a small conveyor tunnel with conveyors on both sides when I bumped into a lion, and my player's char was replaced with the lion's char but in the same ...

is the opening screen (K, C) run-length encoded

I has anotehr burning question about ZZT

it's 4 AM and I should sleep

you know the dark blue equals signs when you first launch ZZT in the (keyboard/color) menu? Is that stuff run-length encoded or what? You know, like the boards are.

Re: are the empties in ZZT char 32, rather than being char 0

Thank you sir!

I was a tad paranoid about KevEdit basically erasing colored empties and reverting them to default due to not handling them-- it may very well be a "out of date version" issue.

Thank you, sir.

Now if only I could figure out why KevEdit won't handle "colored empties"...

Re: fantasy-style language in earliest ZZT games

Thanks for your responses. Commodore's comment gave me a good laugh. It's not exactly something that has faded by the time SuperZZT came around-- the 'town' of SuperZZT starts you off with the ole' 'you got thrown in the dungeon and must escape', at least one magic dragon, and the classic "take what...

fantasy-style language in earliest ZZT games

A lot of the language in early ZZT games (pre-STK) appears to have major influences from High Fantasy in its writing style, including using eccentric grammar and hard-to-find words.
Is there a D&D or Rogue-like influence in early ZZT games, and if so, what's the explanation?

I don't even know any of you guys (& gals) until I even came to these forums until I joined in later 2013, so I can't relate. Maybe it's better that way? Flimsy Parkins? Don't know him. Ando? Don't know him. Appetite4? Who's that guy, I know he posted on z2 recently, but that doesn't tell me much ab...

Re: Smash ZZT

Will there be any aspect of adventure or storytelling to Smash ZZT?
Or is it basically a high-powered arcade game?
