Re: player turned into lion by conveyor
Okay, thanks to reading up on Asie's Reconstruction of ZZT and some experimenting with KevEdit I have a much better idea of how conveyors work and break. https://i.pokyfriends.com/zzt-conveyor-experiments.png Firstly, there's a bug with conveyors and drawing. Conveyors iterate over their neighboring...

Re: ICANN sold .org control to private equity firm.
See! One time Quantum seemed displeased when he learned I wasn't even 100% sure he was the one paying for the site. It got brought up earlier today in the Worlds of ZZT discord server and Quantum P. is there and definitely aware. Lord knows it wouldn't be the first time z2's url changed. It's been w...

Re: Autumn 2003 24 Hours of ZZT
Congrats and welcome back! In 2020 I want to try and create more resources to help people new to ZZT make games with it. I plan to at least so some sort of game jam on Itch. If you actually want to host something yourself I'd be glad to promote it on the @worldsofzzt twitter and Museum! If hosting s...

Re: is the opening screen (K, C) run-length encoded
It's not! It looks like it's just stored pretty much as is. Somewhere in the utilities (here and on the museum site) there should be something to decompress ZZT's executable UNLZEXE or something. If you ever want to modify ZZT, for most things you have to decompress it first. You can find it quite e...

For now you should be able to launch a specific world from the commandline with "zeta blahblah.szt"

Re: are the empties in ZZT char 32, rather than being char 0
KevEdit definitely does. ZZT's drawing routine always forces them to appear as black on black, but you can #put a gem on an empty without specifying a color and it will take the empty's color. I know the KE hosted on z2 is really old (but even that should have no problem). https://github.com/cknave/...

Re: re: run zzt without having to type 'kc' all the time
Somebody in the Worlds of ZZT Discord made a hacked up executable and I remember: 1) I downloaded it immediately because I realized how useful it was 2) I have no fucking idea what I did with it, or who made it or where to find it again either in Discord logs or my own computer! So oops.

Even the 2000 ones were a lucky find. I was hoping I'd find them on an old computer but they are currently lost to time.

Re: ZUltimate locked?
Hello I haven't visited here in a bit. I was contacted by somebody well known to both this and the MZX communities discussing the site being used by uh, less scrupulous people with the intent of digging up old names and photos of trans MZXers and other embarrassing material about things people did a...

Re: Creating pushers
Nope. However depending on what exactly you need the pusher to do, it may possible to do it with statted empties/fakes This requires the path the pusher should take to be drawn out in reverse stat order: http://i.pokyfriends.com/twit-pusher.mp4 I'm not... actually sure why the stat order matters? To...

Re: fantasy-style language in earliest ZZT games
In the earliest days of ZZT, the audience skewed older and more technical, since getting ZZT meant using BBSes more than anything else. In the early 90s RPGs weren't as big of a genre as they are today, and so those who were into them were going to find them more on computers with things like the Ul...

Re: Tyger
In what way! Tyger was a lot of fun to work on, and taught me a lot about ZZT, how to program, and how very much not to program. Once in awhile I still find myself referencing its source code for things. The Museum's file viewer had the luxury of not having to once again write a dictionary of which ...
